Spinal Cord and Spinal Column Tumors

Evaluation and surgical planning for tumors inside or around the spinal cord — including intradural, extramedullary, and vertebral lesions.

Spinal cord tumors are rare but serious. They may arise from the cord itself (intramedullary), from the nerve sheath or meninges (intradural extramedullary), or from the bones of the spine (vertebral). Each type has a different surgical plan.

Modern microsurgical techniques and intraoperative monitoring have made these operations safer. Dr. Zuhair Abu Salma works in a coordinated team with neuro-oncology and radiation oncology when the tumor type requires more than surgery alone.
